The Why of it all

Welcome to The Early On OT

I am an Early On pediatric occupational therapist with a passion for helping families, their children and other Early On providers. This project was created to allow me to share my experiences and expertise with others. It allows me to reach more people with the purpose of helping those who may seek it. With over 20 years of experience in Occupational Therapy and over 10 years of Early On experience I felt it was time to share those experiences, lessons and knowledge. My hope is that you may find something here to help on your journey wherever it may take you.

My Work

Children are the most amazing gift. Although they can be challenging at times, the rewards they give to us are immeasurable. Some children have a much harder or different journey than that of their peers. As a parent, it can be devastating to have a child that may be different from their peers. Many parents mourn for the what they thought their child's life would be. Helping families find the beginning of the path that allows them and their child be the best version of themselves, is one of the most rewarding pieces of my job. Although I have a very small part in their lives, it is usually during the earliest parts of their journey. Bringing an awareness to the light and lessons that these most incredible children have to give, is awe inspiring. It is my mission and passion.

Families

Many families struggle with the day to day activities with their little ones. I am hoping that I can help you to ease those daily struggles. Children can struggle with all parts of life. Some of those struggles are big and some are not. My goal is to highlight different struggles that families experience with their little ones and provide effective strategies and interventions that can be helpful. We will explore different topics that are common and some that may be uncommon. We will discuss typical development as well as atypical. Every family is on a journey, all experience struggles. I hope to help families along those journeys.....

Providers

Early On providers have a very special job. They are tasked with developing relationships with families and their children while helping them through some very tough journeys. This is a gift, to be welcomed into someone's home, to be trusted to hear the raw truth, the pain, the struggles, to share in the accomplishments and joy that come from their children's successes. There is no other job like it. Being an Early On provider can be emotionally draining. If you are like me I become very vested in my students and their families, from day one. That can be very taxing emotionally to be all in all the time for another family. It adds a component to your job that school did not prepare you for. I hope to help you with strategies, experiences and knowledge to help you in your professional career, drawing on all the lessons I have learned.

I hope to hear from some of you about what your needs are or experiences you have had

Subscribe to continue on this journey with me.
